FOURtyFOUR Remixes
A 5 track dub ep (27m 26s) — released May 26th 2014 on Ranking Records
Gentleman's Dub Club and Ranking Records present FourtyFour: The Remixes. Some of the biggest names in Dub music come together to re-work a heavy selection of tunes from GDC's debut album FourtyFour.
Dubmatix is anInternationally acclaimed Canadian artist, producer & multi-instrumentalist who has made his name releasing heavy bass-driven stepper tunes, roots dub focusedriddimsandfuture dub sounds. His remix of Play This draws for the rootsier side, with live guitars, organs and toasty warm bass line providing the meat and potatoes of this super vibey refix.
Radikal Guru aka Mateusz Miller has risen to the top level of global dub DJ's, propelled more recently by the release of his acclaimed album "The Rootsteppa". Radikal's remix of Riot comes heavy and hard, harnessing the main vocal and brass elements from the original, and underlaying them with a romping steppas rhythm section.
Straight outta Bristol, Dubkasm are long time stalwarts of the UK dub scene who begun releasing in 1996, and have stayed at the very zenith of dub production ever since. Their refix of Forward is a straight up steppas stinker that dubs out vocal clips of the original version to create a massive, chugging instrumental.
Budapest-born and current Bristol resident DJ Madd initially received support from the likes of Mary Anne Hobbs, Skream, Breakage, Marten and many more; his unmistakable dubbed out dubstep sound has lead to global headline gigs and releases on such labels as Black Box, Boka, 36 Hertz and Wheel and Deal records. Madd's remix of Enough does not disappoint, with heavy growling baselines underpinning breakneck snare drums and pokey brass stabs.
DJ/Producer Planas has had a string of releases on labels such as his own Ranking Records, Deadmau5's Mau5trap Records and Exceptional Records. His debut album, The Long Game, received critical acclaim for it's experimentations in dubstep, dub and garage, with it's lead single, Breathtaking ft.Ed Thomas, receiving airplay on BBC Radio 1 and 1xtra. The Planas remix of Give It Away is tribal and relentless, giving the dance floor no let up, and no option other than to skank from start to finish.
